Real Brokerage glossary

Short answer

Real has its own words for how pay, teams and programs work. This glossary explains each one in a sentence or two, with the current figure where one applies, and links to the full guide. Terms are in alphabetical order.

A to Z

Anniversary date
The first day of the month after you join Real. Your cap and yearly fees reset on this date each year.Read more
Annual brokerage fee
$900 a year, collected as $300 on each of your first 3 deals in your anniversary year.Read more
Attraction award
Stock Real awards when an agent you attracted closes a first sale of at least $2,000 in commission. It vests over 3 years.Read more
Cap
The most you pay in company split in an anniversary year: $12,000 for individual agents and team leaders, $6,000 or $4,000 for team members.Read more
Capping award
Stock Real awards when you reach your cap. It vests over 3 years.Read more
CBR fee
A $50 fee on each transaction that covers broker review and processing.Read more
Co-sponsor
When two agents share sponsorship of one agent, they split revenue share 50/50.Read more
Elite Agent
A status for agents who cap and then pay $6,000 in post-cap fees, or who reach $500,000 in GCI with 10 deals of $1 million or more, in one anniversary year. Elite brings a $100 post-cap fee and stock awards.Read more
GCI
Gross commission income, your commission before Real's split and fees.Read more
Grace period
For your first 6 months at Real, you can earn revenue share without meeting the producing agent or tier unlock rules. It applies once, when you first join.Read more
ICA
The independent contractor agreement you sign with Real. Your sponsor is fixed once you sign it.Read more
Leo
Real's AI assistant for questions and everyday tasks.Read more
Minimum split
Before cap, Real collects at least $500 in split per deal, plus fees.Read more
Network
The agents connected to you through sponsorship, used to count revenue share tiers.Read more
Passthrough
A pending deal that stays with your old brokerage, which then pays your commission through Real. Some states require it.Read more
Post-cap fee
What you pay per deal after you cap: $285 per sale or $125 per lease, or 15% if that is less.Read more
Producing agent
An agent who pays at least $450 in splits to Real every 6 months. Revenue share depends on staying producing.Read more
ProTeam
A Real team type with at least 2 agents and $5 million in closed volume over the prior 12 months.Read more
Real Academy
Real's training library and live classes, opened from reZEN.Read more
Real Retirement
After 5 full consecutive producing years, you can keep earning revenue share after you stop producing, as long as your license stays with Real.Read more
Real Wallet

Revenue share
Payments Real makes from its own 15% split to agents who sponsored others, until those agents cap. Not guaranteed.Read more
Revenue share tiers
Five levels paying 5%, 4%, 3%, 2% and 1% of a sponsored agent's GCI. Deeper tiers open with more producing agents, a larger network, capping or Elite.Read more

Real's platform for transactions, commissions, documents and pay.Read more
Stock purchase plan
An optional plan that puts 5% of your net commission into Real stock before cap and 10% after, with 10% or 15% bonus shares.Read more
Team cap
A limit a team leader can set on the team split a member pays in a year. The minimum is $6,000, or $8,000 for $4,000-cap members.Read more
Team leader
The agent who runs a team and receives the team split. Separate from your sponsor.Read more
Team split
The share of a team member's commission that goes to the team leader, at least 10% on a ProTeam.Read more

FAQ

Common questions

You have paid your full yearly cap in company split, $12,000 for most individual agents. After that you pay a flat post-cap fee per deal.

Your sponsor is named on your agreement and can't change. Your team leader runs your team and gets a team split. They can be different people.

Real's platform for entering deals, managing documents and getting paid.

A Real team with at least 2 agents and $5 million in closed volume over the prior 12 months.

A yearly status for high producers that lowers the post-cap fee to $100 and brings stock awards.
