How Real Brokerage revenue share works

Short answer

Revenue share is money Real pays to an agent's sponsors out of its own 15% split, not from agent commissions. The rate is 5% of a sponsored agent's gross commission at Tier 1, stepping down to 1% at Tier 5, and it stops when that agent caps. Deeper tiers unlock by sponsoring producing agents, by network size, or by the sponsor capping. Payments are not guaranteed.

This page explains how Real’s program works.

It is not a reason to pick a sponsor or a team, and it is not a promise of income. Revenue share depends on other agents’ production and Real’s rules, which can change.

Who pays revenue share

Real does, from the 15% company split it collects before an agent caps. The sponsored agent's own commission isn't reduced to pay it. On a $10,000 pre-cap sale, Real collects $1,500, and any revenue share on that sale comes out of that $1,500.

The maximum per sponsored agent is the tier rate times the GCI it takes that agent to cap. A solo agent caps at $80,000 in GCI, so Tier 1 tops out at 5% of $80,000, or $4,000 a year.

Co-sponsors

If two agents are recorded as co-sponsors, they split the revenue share 50/50.

Your sponsor is permanent

Your sponsor is set when you sign the independent contractor agreement. It generally cannot change afterward, with a limited exception if that sponsor leaves Real.

How deeper tiers unlock

Every sponsor gets Tier 1. Each deeper tier unlocks in one of three ways.

Sponsor producing agents

At 5 producing Tier 1 agents, Tier 2 unlocks. At 15, Tier 3. At 20, Tier 4. At 25, Tier 5.

Network size

A network of 750 to 999 agents unlocks Tier 3, 1,000 to 1,499 unlocks Tier 4, and 1,500 or more unlocks Tier 5.

Your own production

Capping unlocks tiers up to Tier 3 for that anniversary year. Elite Agent status unlocks up to Tier 5 for that anniversary year.

A producing agent pays at least $450 in splits to Real every 6 months. New agents get a one-time 6-month grace period. Agents in their grace period don't count toward a sponsor's tier unlocks.

When revenue share stops and restarts

Revenue share on an agent stops once that agent caps for the year. It starts again when that agent's anniversary year resets. It isn't paid on post-cap fees, personal transaction fees, brokerage fees or CBR fees.

Fees and limits on revenue share

  • $175 a year, taken from the first payment of your anniversary year.
  • 1.2% processing fee on each later payment.
  • Starting September 1, 2026, you need a Real Wallet Business Checking account to receive revenue share.
  • Real limits total revenue share to 60% of its monthly revenue. If that limit is reached, payments are reduced proportionally.

Can revenue share be passed on?

Yes, after 5 consecutive producing years. At that point an agent's revenue share can continue after they retire, and they can name a beneficiary.

Your Real sponsor is named on your application and is separate from a team leader. A sponsor does not change your commission split. Review your choice before signing.
