GETTING STARTED
Your first 30 days at Real
Short answer
Most of your first month is setup. Your license moves, you get a Welcome to Real email, and you set up reZEN with your bank and tax details so you can be paid. You join live training, move your board and MLS within 30 days, and update your marketing. Your first commission follows Real's seven step pay process.
Week 1: license and welcome
- 01
Finish the application
Apply, sign the independent contractor agreement and pay the $249 sign-up fee. Your sponsor and stock plan choices from the application carry into the agreement.
- 02
Move your license
Real's onboarding team reaches out within 48 hours with your state's steps.
- 03
Watch for the welcome email
Once your license is with Real, look for a "Welcome to Real" email from onboarding@therealbrokerage.com with your training schedule.
- 04
Hand over pending deals
If you have deals pending at your old brokerage, fill out Real's form so the team enters them for you. That keeps Real's split from being charged on top of your old brokerage's split.
Weeks 1 and 2: set up reZEN
reZEN is where you run deals and get paid. Bookmark the desktop version and download the app.
- Profile: a professional photo, your contact details and a short bio. This also feeds your onereal.com landing page.
- Payment and tax: your bank account and your SSN, or an EIN if you are paid as a business. Real says pay can be delayed if you skip this step.
- Onboarding checklist: it appears in reZEN once you're active and walks you through the rest. It disappears when you finish.
- Listings: enter any listing in reZEN as soon as the listing contract is signed.
Weeks 2 to 4: training, MLS and marketing
- Live training: Real runs Onboarding Orientation on Wednesdays, Get Started With Transactions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Get Started with Marketing on Mondays. Recordings are in Real Academy.
- Board and MLS: you must affiliate within 30 days of signing your agreement. You pay those dues yourself.
- Marketing: update your website, social profiles, email signature, voicemail, MLS profile and third party sites. Order business cards and signs from your state's templates in Real's Marketing Center, and don't change the templates.
- Real Wallet: open a Real Wallet Business Checking account if you'll receive revenue share. It has been required for revenue share since September 1, 2026.
Getting paid
Real lays out seven steps for every deal: enter the deal in reZEN, upload documents, calculate the commission, get broker approval, send the commission document, close and send funds to Real, then Real balances the file and pays you.
- After funds reach Real and match the file, Real says to allow 3 to 5 days for the file to close and the payment to go out.
- You get an email titled "Payday! Your Payment has been scheduled."
- Your bank can take up to 3 to 5 more business days.
- In states that allow it, you may be paid at the table. You can switch to direct deposit in reZEN under Payment Settings.
- Real ended its Early Commission Payment Program on February 25, 2026.
Your costs in month one
Expect the $249 sign-up fee when you apply. On each of your first 3 deals of the year, Real collects $300 toward the $900 yearly brokerage fee, plus the $50 CBR fee and the 15% split until you cap. There is no monthly fee.
